First of all, online CRM is nothing more than accessing CRM software via the Internet. You go to a website and then enter your username and password. This gives you access to all available data in the CRM system. When accessing the CRM data via the internet, we also speak of cloud computing.
Advantage online CRM
The great advantage of online CRM is of course that you can work anywhere with an internet connection. At home, at the customer’s, at a conference or in a hotel. And this is not limited to a PC. The CRM data is also available on, for example, an iPad, iPhone or Samsung Galaxy.
Hosting of CRM software
Another name for online software is web-based. First of all, with this form of CRM, the software can be installed on the company’s server. But the second possibility is that the software is hosted externally at, for example, a hosting provider. However, if the software is hosted by the supplier, it is called SaaS (Software as a Service). The big advantage of hosting CRM software is that you don’t have to worry about backups and keeping your software up-to-date. This is done by the hosting provider (whether or not the CRM supplier).
Online CRM functionality
The functionality of the CRM software remains the same in all cases. You can of course expect basic functions such as relationship management, activities, mail, correspondence, sales registration and management information, but also extra modules. With online CRM you also often have the option to arrange your screen according to your own wishes. This way you can organize your web version yourself with, for example, only activities, mail and RSS feeds.
